Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

please write if you think this is a good idea. Could show akai this is a strong feature for them to implement. I think it could
make the mpc an even bigger beast than it is.

Sean,

this time i'll write in small so you don't have the impression i'm shouting.

I think a great feature for the aksys, would be the possibility to have a visual
view of the sequencer and seq data... ie keyboeard and pads with the midi step
and event seqencer. this would make it such a good sequencer...

you know to be able to drag note lengths and to be able to edit and move notes around and all the contollers
using aksys on pc/mac, but still using the mpc as an interface....

That would be a snap shot of the mpc sequencer and could be edited in real time....
ie it would diredctly affect the mpc. I am sure this is poossible and would
make the mpc (which i adore by the way) the best production machine ever....

Best regards to all the mpcers out there

Andy

I agree with you on the sequencer stuff, and I would also like to be able to audition samples from the mpc hard drive and cd drive using aksys. Maybe also if you could chop up your samples, kind of like propellerhead's recycle. I think that would really make a big statement for aksys if it had those features.

i think the ideas are ok! ... but imo if akai starts to develop this now we will not gonna see any other os developments for ages! ... and therefore i - by far - prefer os developments which provide new and improved features and even more improved user friendlyness on the 4k - and imo the 4k even though it is great already thisregarding still has a huge potential! ... i love the 4k coz it is a hardware sequencer/sampler! don't get me wrong but the proposal sounds to me a lil bit to softsequencerish!

only thing i would like to see from aksys is a facility which allows you to backup huge amounts of data easily, conveniately and savely - ideally it should be possible to drag your whole shit on your 4k hd to somewhere else - and let a pc or another hd work for hours! - and even there if it can be done within the 4k i m fine!

... once the 4ks os developments are finished or nearly all those ideas are naturally welcome!

just my opinion

i also agree with this and I tied to explain that but obviously not so well.
I also love the interface of the mpc and its groove and swing, the only thing I think is sometimes a bit funny is moving notes around and chopping bars to make new loops, inverting sequence data etc.

it was just an idea and from what i understand, it would be very hard to implement.... this is why as you said, i prefer they get their shit right with
the os before doing anything. however, a usb mouse to select notes, click
and drag would be an amazing feature and would in my sense make it an even better machine than it is already. Maybe if we start talking about this
now, we could see that sort of shit in future mpc......

thanks for all the comments

That already exists.

It's called connecting your MPC to FruityLoops.

It works great. For getting ideas together quickly.

As much as MPC users dump on FL that's basically what it would be.

MY 4000 is set up to control FL.
IT's the best of both worlds.

I can launch Gold wave or Recycle from with in FL to edit/slice samples and then I send them to the MPC via Aksys.

It might take Akai a decade to come up with a sequencer that works like you would want it with the size of their staff.

I was not joking. I basically have that setup with FL.
The MPC is the master and FL just follows along.

I can control all of my Soundfonts and Plugins with my MPC.
It's also easier to make adjustments to midi (Melodies Not drums) within FL than it is on the MPC because of the graphical advantages.

You may want to check it out.
Just for the fact that it opens up the possiblity of using plugins and soundfonts with your MPC may make it worth it.
