mpc -logic template?

if anyone has one to work with 4k and logic 9 ill buy it from you?
ive been trying to get this setup right but still not working properly!!

i have midi channels setup but seems its only allowing me to hear one instrument play at a time??
so if i have a drumbeat playimg track 1 midi channel 1
and i try to add a bass track 2 midi channel 2 track too will start playing midi notes from track one ?so basically im channelled
up right but still not working i dunno ?

Yea I tried a few times , it got me started but I just can't get each channel to play together separately??

I also had trouble with Clint's tutorial, it got me a lot of the way there, but I did make a 16 channel template that works, I just don't know how to post a screenshot. I think I figured it out by watching SFLogicninja s youtube videos, but basically, go to:

Environment>
1. Click New>Physical Input
2. New>Channel Splitter
3. connect a cable from Sum on Physical Input to node 1 on Channel Splitter
now the fun part
if you have 16 midi tracks enabled, and each track is set to midi channel 1, midi channel 2, etc, on each channel strip, then:
4. connect a cable from each output node on the right side of the channel splitter (one at a time, 1-16) to the left hand side of each channel (next to "Setting")
that was fun wasn't it?
then:
5. New>Channel Splitter
6. connect the output node of each channel (pull a cable from the little grey nipple to the right of the word "setting") to where it says "1" on the second channel splitter, then "2", etc, until you've gotten all 16 in there then:
7. New>Monitor
8. take the output cable from the Sum of the second channel splitter and plug it into the left of the monitor
9. New>Sequencer Input
10. connect a cable from the top right nipple of the monitor to the sequencer input on the left side of Sequencer Input
11. "In the Logic FILE menu go to PROJECT SETTINGS and then RECORDING. Make sure you tick the box “Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording”. Close the window." To quote Clint. Boom. (sort of, it's complicated)

Give this a genuine shot. I spent a week sorting this out and there was much yelling at the computer and gnashing of teeth. If you can't figure it out, I'll happily sell you the template, let me know. The thing is, you pretty much have to record everything in at one shot from the mpc because going back and recording something over becomes a bit of a pain, and I remember you have to fuss with toggling on Rec on each of the tracks you want to record, then it gets weird, whatever, you'll figure it out. But be warned, even though you will be able to control a whole bunch of tracks, editing them will make you cry. I ended up tracking in one at a time through the apogee duet because I like the sound of the mpc better as audio than the exs 24 sampler, but that's another debate. I don't really care. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. Which version of Logic were you using?

The feedback I got over the years tells me 99% of people who tried got it working properly.

I've only tested it with Logic Pro 8, the program can't of changed that much with one update.

If I get hold of Logic 9 I'll have to have a look at the settings.

im using logic 9 ,never owned any other version.if anyone had success with this setup using 9 let me know

im not sure if its something in logic or the 4k that needs to be changed but ill keep trying

Hey Clint, I have Logic 9. Just to give credit where it's due, your tutorial got me 95% of the way there, I just had to build a work around in the Environment for the last 5%. I had PT LE before logic, so I can't tell you if there is a disconnect between Logic 8 and 9, or my lack of experience.

so you have no problems using logic as a sound module with your 4k?

Yeah, I've actually been using it today since I dug it up. What problems are you having with it?

My problem is after setting up midi channels in logic to be triggered by the 4k,
I couldn't get more than one track to play sequences together at same time.

For example if I recorded a kick and snare pattern on track 1 using ultrabeat

When I go to track 2 and tried to add another instrument maybe brass or a bass pattern it would start playing the kick and snare pattern from track 1 with Whateva insert. I had selected for track 2?
So I'm stuck only being able to record one pattern

Ok.
1. On the mpc, under Main window, is track 1 set to out a, channel 1, and track two is set to out a, channel 2, etc?
2. In Logic, on the channel strip where it says the track name, did you click the arrow on track one and set it to midi channel 1, and track 2 is set to midi channel 2, etc?
3. It's weird, but I have to arm for recording all the tracks I'm working on or everything plays back on whatever track I've highlighted, which is annoying.

Let me know if that helps or not.

Right now im just using my 4k and Fantom G.

heres what i have basically no matter what channel i set my mpc to track 2 midi channel 2 im only getting midi playback on one channel. i can hear each channell if its the only one selected but its not allowing me to make a beat using more than one track ?
so if track one has a sequence its gonna play track ones sequence on track 2 using the same midi data?

This is what it should look like in the Environment window for the mpc to control the soft synths in Logic. Can you post a screenshot of your environment window?
