Ive got a 4000.

i want to make a 2 bar loop of just a drum sequence.

i have no HD or CD Rom.

i have a Compact Flash card reader connected to the MPC 4000 with some kicks, snares, hats, in .WAV format. (the MPC 4000 does recognise the card reader, so its OK)

basically, I want to load some of these sounds and assign them to the pads, but dont know how to. i have tried but ime getting it wrong.

please can someone give me a assistance on loading my .wav samples, assigning to pads, ready to sequence.

i have a manual, but my brain has gone dead reading it.

Please, Please, Please.

thankyou in advance.

I get a message saying:

'Program is not assigned to the out 1 & 2', which is why i think i cant hear my sequence on the main page when i press play. the 'out' level meter does move though, but no sound.

Hit "Load". Highlight the memory card by scrolling through the options at the top of the page. Choose "Load a sample". Push soft key for "New Program" assign the new program a name. Now load each sample by scrolling through to the ones you want, pushing "Add Program" soft key, and hitting the pad you want to assign to. Now hit "Main" button to access the sequencer, scroll down to "Part: 1" next to the output assignments at the bottom. Highlight the space next to Part:1 and push "Window" now select the name of your new program. You can begin sequencing. Have fun :)

but still i cannot hear anything in the 'Main' sequence page.

when i press the 'program' button, i can hear my 2 bar drum loop, but not in sequence page.

in PART 1, i go to the right to the blank highlighted part, and i cannot seem to open the 'window' button, even after i press it.

ime on OS 1.51

ime sure this is not a bug, just my fault somewhere.

what up roopesh,

programs are assigned to multis,
samples are assigned to programs,
each multi can have up to 128 parts,
so each program is assigned to a part within a muti.

go to the multi page and create a multi,by pushin the window key there and choose the number of parts you want it to have,
or if ya want to add more parts to a excisting multi go to the part colum in the multi page and push the window key and set the number of new parts.

if there is no multi in memory or no spare/empty parts left you will not be able to assign a program to it.

then you can assign your programs to the parts in the multi page or in the main page which is quicker ,
make sure out 1 is set to part, select a part/part number move the cursor to the right and push the window key and slect the desired program from the pop up window.

only one program can be assigned to each part/part number at the same time.

ie
out 1:part part : 1-program1

in the program and sample pages in the to right corner there is the option to monintor
=Sample,Program multi

if u set this to multi it will allow u to do realtime editing of samples and programs whilst monitoring your tune in the sample and program pages.

He is right you know after the tip from Reveal reread that bad boy many times til it sinks in. You just got the MPC so I understand, but it will all make sense later on and you will realize how explaintory the book really really is. :D
