Controlling Samples With The Sliders On The 4k?

Need some help.

How do you control the sample with the slider on the MPC 4k? I want to be able to change the pitch of the sample with the slider, but do it on the fly while recording. I can do this on the 2k but cant seem to do it on the 4k.

above the qlink 1 there is the "setup" button click that, from the setup screen press "f2" which takes you to the "send" field. In the send field scroll to which slider or knob you want to control the change with. Once in that slider's field change the "transmit" option from "Q EVENT" to "pad Control" then in the "assign" field change that to "pitch" if you want to control the range or effectiveness of the slider to pitch ratio than in the "range" field change the value to suit your needs.

all in the manual btw.

Thanks for the reply. I got that far but now when I move the slider it changes the pitch. I want to be able to hit the pad, play the sample, then move the slider up or down (with out a pitch change) and play the sample at a different pitch.

Doesn't work that way. You have to read the manual. Anyway you got a full sampler why not just assign the sample to a key group program or use 16 tunings. Also if you are working with a midi keyboard controller just use a pitch wheel. Basics all in the manual.

Well that is what you asked for in your original post, isn't it...so job done.

Nobody is going to spoonfeed you here so breakout the manual and do some LEARNING.

Using the Q-Links is well documented in this forum and in the manual.

Not looking to get "spoonfed" at all. I have looked in the manual and its not working the same way it does on the 2k or 2kxl. I guess they changed that feature when updating to the 4k. It's a shame because a lot of people love that feature with the earlier mpc's.

I have a 4k and 2kxlse2. I've assigned several samples to sliders on both machines and they both change the pitch ONLY when re/triggered "pressed again" and not while actually moving the fader AND the pad held down at the same time.

Blue Haze gave you a workaround though, try that.

I def will try holding the pad while moving the slider, but when I'm moving the slider while triggering the sample the pitch changes while I'm moving the slider. I really appreciate everybody's help.

No problem. Jut remember only on a re-trigger event will the information on the slider change.

A re-trigger event happens when = each individual pad presses, note repeats while holding down the pad, looping a sample on a pad and the pad is held down...

So your telling me that when you play the sample and move the slider it doesn't Change the pitch as the slider moves?

4k manual 229, when I first got my 4k I went through every menu about q-links and I touched, tweaked and experimented with everything about them and still don't know it all but I learned ALOT just by actually doing it and running through experiments with samples and q-link assignments. Experimental experience is the best teacher.
