Custom Midi setups

Can I make and save a custom midi set up so that when I turn on my MPC and load the setting that all of my tracks in a sequence will be ready to play their corresponding midi arraignment? For instance Track 1,2,3, and 4 will be automaticaly set to Midi out: C device 3, track 5 will always be set to Midi out: D, Tracks 6,7,8 will be set to Midi out: B, and track 9 will be set to Midi out B device 2.
Then when I switch to a blank sequence the tracks will still be set up and ready to play ect....
Is this possible?

yes Ol'Sparky you can! ... i have it too!

just do your arrangement ie track 1, midi out a channel 1, track 2, midi out a, ch 2, ... and save the whole thing! put it in your autoload folder and each time you turn on your 4k you're ready to rokk your external gear!

i d also name the things! ... once forever ... or at least til the next purchase!

i tell you how mine is organized atm! it changed quite a few times and currently its quite a while that its like this! i just got one main module - synth to control! tracks 1 til 16 are empty and is always reserved for the 4k! tracks 17 til 32 are reserved for another module which i hardly ever use and its not even preprogrammed so its most times empty or gets used by the 4k aswell

anyhow - important for me is just the one external synth which occupies tracks 33 til 96. the 16 channels that can be controlled on the synth get 4 tracks each! 1 for the notes and 3 others for eventual prog changes or additional notes! so 33 til 36 is out a, channel 1, 37 til 40 out a channel 2, ... notes are nearly always placed in the first one (for channel 1= track 33, channel 2=37, ... and i find it quit useful in combination with track mute page, so that in my case the leftest pad in each row in track mute pages 3 til 6 are ready to mute/unmute the note messages for the synth ....

... oh yeah and i programmed 3 sequences (126, 127, and 128) for the midi dumps! 126 is for an external fx! 127 (track 1 to 16 for the 16 single patches, 17 til 32 for other versions of em) and 128 for arrangements (there are the first 16 tracks for 16 arrangements!)

... saved entire memory and put it all into autoload!

yo and btw there is somethin that i must change back as it was and there used to be a thread in the past weeks here which answered a question regarding autoload which i currently have! i searched this thread already a few times but i don't seem to find it! i organized my autoload folder that the preset multi1, and prog1 doesn't get loaded - worked all fine but recently those folders load up back again! i been reading in that thread that aksys causes this and in fact for once a few weeks back i been using aksys to delete some things on my harddisc! and since than those folders load up again! damn, there is one parameter somewhere in aksys (which i don't know much about) and this parameter should be switched off! if anyone could give me a hint would be great ...

... been reading your ques again! ... switching to an empty sequence! its slitghtly different but worx aswell! when you switch seq you get an empty sequence! but you can save your arranged seq (save just that seq, not all seq and songs file) somewhere else onto your harddisc and once in the new empty seq you can upload that one!

... yo ice - after half a year of assigning midichannels which where assigned in each session on different tracks i dedided once to just sit down for 20 mins and do it! ... its great now - i love it!

btw: finally found the answer to my own question: annoying prog, multi upload caused due to aksys! bleepfreak answered it in this thread if anyone is interested aswell check this one

Thanks for the low down Alto I've gotta create a system that works for me and impliment it, but I really like how organized you are. You gave me some great ideas. btw did you say that this auto set up will or will not transfer over as I switch to new sequences that are blank while I am creating completly new sequences?

sure o'sparky - you neeed to set it up for your gear! - my one is just an example ...

on my organization - what i learned from all this midi stuff is that organization is important ... very important actually! and this is actually the only thing organized here, everythin else atm seems a mess - from my 4k harddisc to my patchlist at the virus ... its definately time to reorganize it all ...

anyhow - the setup you upload from your autoload folder doesn't transfer if you work on a fully new sequence! but there are some ways to do it:

1. as i described above! save your desired autosetupped sequence as a sequence (not all seq and songs file) somewhere on your hd! if ya on a new empty sequence you can upload that one into the new sequence and ya fine ...

or ... you better forget about what i just typed coz right here and now whilst tryin to answer your question i rediscovered this one

2. default feature!!! damn - it worx! i tried it on an older os and it never worked out for me! ... either my mistake or the os wasn't up too! dunno, ... anyhow i just tried it and it does exactly what it should - great one ...

hit window button when cursor is on main screen over seq field! you will see a default field! read what the window says! hit default! go to your next sequence and MOVE your cursor than everythin there changes to the setup of the sequence you choosed as default one - (move is in capital letters coz its important and prob the reason why it never worked here! if ya don't move the cursor nothin happens! damn!)

and there would have been a

3. workaround too ... but its all irrelevant now!

just go with number 2! ... i ll do so too!
