Do any of you use softsynths(Trilogy for instance) controlled by your MPC. How do you acomplish this...especially any mac users.

I have used another hardware sequencer with gigasampler on a PC. The concept is the same. You need a MIDI interface to the PC. Have you connected the MPC to any other gear? You have to set it to output MIDI on the main page and on the appropriate channel. Just set the softsynth to recieve MIDI on the same channel the MPC was set to.

Yeah I use the MPC to control other machines regularly, my question was specificaly on what kind of setup it would take to use some softsyths as stand alone rather than a virtual instrument from within a softsequencer. So I just want to access the soft synth without running it through PT, Sonar, Cubase ect...

I see....as for VST instruments, they require some kind of host application. Some software will run as a plug-in like trilogy, but I think can also run stand-alone. I think about 95% of VST instruments require a host application though.
