Hey mpc users, musicians, and wannabes. I would like to ask everyone about their favorite beats. We all talk about the gear alot but lets look at the music that inspired us for a minute. I`m asking about the beats that without the singer, rapper or corny ass mofo dragging and drawling over the beat you can listen as an instrumental over and over again. Some say that the vocal makes the record, but it is the groove that give you that energy. Classic beats you can play years from now I ask for.
Some of my favorites are:
who shot ya Nashiem Myrick for the strings and buzz
Cell Therapy by Organized Noise for the drums
Let me Ride by Dre and Colin wolfe for the bass and keys
Heat by Swizz for the sense of urgency and drama
Get til Money by Jay Dee for the Mellowness and Smoothness
This Can`t be Life by Kanye West for the vocals which features pain and the sorrow that is the everyday sorrow of the ghetto.
Flava in your ear by Easy Mo Bee those horns, those horns damn!!
Shake your Ass by the Neptunes proving that your old nasty uncle can get down with the funk.
And there are others but too many motherf**ers to be naming so I`ll let you guys take over from here/
Life a **** by L.E.S. just for that sample
Take it outside by DJ Scratch those piano keys with the haunting bass.
Ok I`m letting it go with One in a million by primo for the piano keys it is nice.
I`ll be back with new shit.
I love the madd rapper skits too you see, you see, you seee I IIIIIIIIIII ain`t with all that new jack shit!!!
Tell them why you mad son.
