Fatal Error! "Data Abort" MPC 4000 ID 00000017

Been trying to troubleshoot this problem for some time now, 4k sequence playing for a few hours, sometimes 30 mins is enough and then I get a Fatal Error message, see the pictures.

FSR: C0005005
FAR: 3C000014

wll post up the pics of the crash in a moment, swapped Ram to 2 x 256 > CL2 Kingston as recommened by many others.

HDD and CDROM were removed, no difference. Also removed the USB stick before doing a play test and also crashed.

Now testing a blank sequence to see what happens.

Hope anyone can help out? Any MPC Doctors around?

I've noticed that the fan has not been spinning properly, replaced the fan and the crashes seem to have stopped. Good its all back to normal.

That's great news! Hopefully you are still crash free.

This could be a great example of how a small and apparently unconnected issue can sometimes cause major havoc elsewhere.
Also underlines how useful this forum is.

Interesting for sure if the fan was the cause of that.

Does this designate that the "Fatal Error Data Abort" message is due to overheating? This seems to occur with my 4000 time and time again. Perhaps the fans swap was a resolution as you stated? has anyone else ever heard of or seen anything similar occur. As stated by previous post this occurs after say 30 mins or so and a reboot must be done.

Have you at least checked to see if your fan is functioning properly and that your unit is cooling correctly?

It wouldn't be that the fatal error means it not cooling but as the OP found it could cause issues if your unit was not cooling properly by causing the system to overheat.

I would say do just like the OP:
check your ram
check internal cable connections
check running without the HD
check running without CD Rom
re-install OS
check your fans functionality
