how does the 4ks 12 bit sampling compares to vintage sampler

In the process of traring my 3000 for a 4000 and was gonna get a s950 but the guy said the 4k samples in 12 bit at different frequencies also. So im just curious if this is any way a night and day difference compared to different 12 bit samplers.

You can resample in the 4K at a number of different bit and sample rates. When I was doing this recently I wasn't exactly blown away by the results to be honest, but they were still useable.

To get a bunch of snares gritty I actually had to go down to 8 bit with a low sample rate... There wasn't enough degradation at 12 bit to my ears. You will probably struggle to get the classic S-950 sound unless you sample stuff that's already been through a S-950.

Do you want/need all your samples to have 'that' sound?

I dnt need them but itll be dope to have them. I tried maschines emulation as well as adding lofi,saturation and distortion and they seemed good to me but wondering if the s950 is still doper.

I think the 4k has the best sample engine of all the mpc's but it cannot emulate a 900/950 well enough. To stop anyone confusion or two threads going on about the same thing, continue this topic in your first post.
