Faster navigation?

I like the MPC4000 a lot, but it seriously takes SO much longer to record midi tracks, etc than other MPC's I've used such as 1000 and 2500 because of how many options are in the menu.

I know about the block cursor, but even so, it does not jump to where I need it, and for quickly creating midi tracks on the fly, it takes soo many block cursor / arrow movements it definitely makes this thing useless for live. For me.


Please only respond if you have a suggestion as how to speed navigation up?

Speed of navigation takes practice, but in the meantime you should consider setting up a blank project exactly how you want it and then saving it to the autoload folder.

For example, if you know you're going to need 16 midi channels just take 2 minutes to carry out your assignments. 20 parts or more will cover most eventualities, so do the same there. If you've got a bunch of drum programs you like, load them up too.

Save entire memory to the autoload folder and voila, everything is in place when you turn the 4K on. :nod:

In addition to what Coz said.

Track list anyone and simply used the next and previous track button to go back and forth.

That's a complaint I've never heard before, what's with the common obsession with speed these days?

Like Blue Haze said how long does it really take to press a button?

Alternatively the template suggested by Coz will appease you, if of course, you have the time to set it up...

I deleted my first knee jerk reaction cause it wasn't something you would take lightly. Having said that, have more patience, a few clicks of a button won't hurt you. Literally, 2-3 seconds.

How bout recording your midi tracks while on the sequence edit page. You have access to everything you need, less fields to navigate through, and anythings else you wanna set up is just a button push away.
