$200?

This kid is offering me a 4 for 200, it has lines in the screen and he says it might need new pads. He also says he only used it to sample so he don't know what else is wrong with it. Now i was originally looking for a 2500 because portability and I've worked with a 1000+jj but 200 is a steal. So is the 4 that much better and is it really worth risking a **** up machine? Keep in mind being able to fit one in a backpack would've been huge for me.

test it out and see what else is wrong with it, a new screen is about 250, and pads (not the sensors) are about 100, so if that's all that's wrong with it then def. grab it, it'll be a 4k for a total $550

The screen really don't look bad in the pics so i'd prolly just leave that. We been emailing so I can't try it out till I get it. From the pic the os is obviously on it so I'm trying to think what else could even be **** up besides maybe some buttons?

Can you go see this in person or is this like a ebay type of buy?

$200 is a steal for anybody, especially if you're gifted with some technical know-how.

But I'd take that joint and have it pimped out. Check out what Forat does to mpc's...

Craigslist in another state but he said if I paid shipping. How hard is this **** to lug around? To big to throw on my back?

That would still be $100 less than the cheapest I've seen lately. I'm looking at a 2nd one at $800 and the one I have now was $800.

Huh?! Pads are about $20 aren't they?
The sensor sheet is only $70.

If the LCD works enough to see that the OS is booting up and the screens are all there then the machine is probably fine and just needs a new LCD. Lines on LCDs are a common failure of an LCD unit.
If the pads/sensors are worn out (double triggering, stupid velocities etc) then you could use it with a MIDI keyboard until you get the parts.

Unless your the Incredible Hulk, you aint slinging it in a back-pack and carrying it around, but then saying that, why would you want to? It's built like a tank but i hate transporting mine out the studio.

Lines in the screen are not a big deal. Broken motherboard is a big deal. As long as the mother board is good then you will not have expensive fixes for it. new pads are not a big deal. Tell your friend to sell it on ebay no reserve starting at $200.
You on the other hand should buy a fully functioning 2500 and not worry about fixing stuff.

The 4K is not an MPC you throw in a backpack and head down the beach with to make beats. It's a studio workhorse.

Oh yeah, it weighs about 12.5 Kg or nearly 30 pounds so forget about taking it out and about.

I take mine places but it's a case of taking it off one desk, placing it carefully on the back seat of the car, then putting it on another desk somewhere else.

I think you'd be better off with the 1000 for taking out on a regular basis.
