every so often a sequence will just disappear. i thought it was some random thing i was doing but this morning an important sequence just didn't load. double-checked the hd and sure enough the sequence is gone. oddly enough, the sequence that i copied over showed back up in it's place. i always save to a second drive so nothing is lost for good but it's kinda annoying.

any ideas? is this one the 4k's bugs? signs of a failing hd?

thanks.

Did you save the sequence to the project folder, but it is not loading when you load from the folder after a reboot, or whatever? Is the sequence in the folder? Or did it simply disappear like a ghost? If I don't save everything in memory to a project folder when I open it up the next time everything but a few sequences will load. It's scary.

yes, exactly. do some work on mpc, save to same folder that i always use - each song gets it's own folder - shut down. come back, load folder and one sequence is just missing. no longer in folder so i can't just reboot and reload. it's as if i deleted the sequence...only i didn't. i mean, you can't really accidentally delete a sequence w/o knowing it.

fortunately it only happens periodically and never wipes out more than one sequence.

that sucks. i vote for new hard drive/external usb flash card reader. if you have an extra hard drive in an enclosure lying around, maybe see if you can duplicate the error saving through the front usb port.

ok, so i'm able to recreate the problem. power on and load stuff. get into seq edit screen and start editing. when i exit seq edit and get back to the main screen some sequences will have disappeared. only sequences...no samples, which makes me think it's not a ram problem as that wouldn't specifically eliminate sequence data, right?

i'm gonna reload the os and see if the problem clears up. in the meantime if anybody has any ideas i'm all ears.

Maybe try saving the sequences you're working with in song mode first, then go and do your seq editing from there.

they are in song mode but i didn't think to check to see if they had disappeared from there as well.

re-installed the OS and am still having the problem. seems to occur only when i'm deleting info in sequence edit - specifically when i'm deleting redundant information, i.e. two identical events (same note number, duration, velocity, etc.) in the same spot...and only seems to happen when deleting in "window" view. and the number of sequences that disappear appears to be random. if i spend enough time deleting in seq edit all but the sequence that i'm working on will vanish.
