Can't hear sound from HD. Can't audition sound. Seek error when i try to load sample, MPC just freezes and i have to shutdown and restart I swapped memory, cleaned slots, change IDE cable. Could the problem be the main board, memory slots, CPU? Everything else seems to be working. Pads test ok, all buttons work, OS loads 1.71. I was thinking of taking it apart and give it a good cleaning. Maybe you guys have some idea whats going on with this thing.

Thanks

Have you tried loading/previewing anything from a USB stick on the front USB port? What you described sounds a lot like a dead or dying HDD, trying a USB stick could narrow down whether it's the main board or an issue with the internal HDD.

I got it working after fatal error. I used USB stick MPC see the stick, HD and CD-rom but i can't see any file to load now( one issue after the other). When i go into save i can see the files. I can only see one way. I'm thinking memory maybe or the IDE cable.

Flash Rom Failure: Rom code is invalid

Please reload system via USB loader

reloaded software with USB loader. Held down shift and Window at start up, same error and static at headphone jack and main outs when i hit REC &PLAY. Removed memory so machine can boot using stock 16MB, stay on AKAI screen 1.71 version.

I think the main motherboard is bad (memory slots). Is it worth spending $450 for new board?
Any suggestion on how to proceed. Thanks

I would look for a parts/non working machine on ebay maybe 400-600$

then you have all types of extra parts. or buy another functioning machine and keep old one for parts

Or if I had the machine i would fix it no doubt.

Yeah i have a functioning one. Guess i would have to use for parts. Paid only $300 for if..thought it would be an easy fix. Really think it's a corrupt motherboard.

This is not a easy fix. If anyone has a unused mainboard. Let me know
