Nudging notes

I'm curious how to nudge notes in SEQ edit. When I use the move function it moves it to the closest quantized value. I just want to be able to move them "off the grid" a tad. For instance move a clap slightly ahead of a snare when they are struck at roughly the same time. Is this possible? When I turn TC off it becomes impossible to quickly find the note I want to move as the grid becomes incredibly long if that makes sense. I'm sure it's something easy I'm missing.

To find notes quickly with TC off... hold the GO TO button while you hit STEP < or >. If you hit the GO TO button you can assign functions to the LOCATE keys.

Is this the fastest method? If so that's fine and that is a nice trick to know regardless

Nope... the quickest way for me would be to hit WINDOW while in the TC field and highlight "Shift Timing:". Enter the shift amount and EARLIER/LATER. You can also set which pad and the song location you want to shift. That way you can shift the whole track at once instead of individual notes.

You sure? If you've got TC on in the Seq Edit screen (1/16 for example) the graphical representation won't show a small move, but if you hit Open Window you'll see the note has actually moved.

You've also got other options to do the same thing. You can shift selected pads in the TC screen which is quicker, or add the clap to Zone 2 of the snare and use the Start parameter to create a slight delay.

The most natural way IMO is to record a bunch of passes with TC off and then copy all the best bits into a loop. It all depends on how loose or quantised you want things to sound though.
