Up Cursor above Job Wheel Non-Responsive

Greetings Fellow 4000 users.

I have a used MPC4000 (the white and blue one not the dark one) and my Up Cursor has become un-responsive. I've read here that non-greasy electrical contact cleaner may work as there may be dust on the contact. I see the part at MPCStuff.com for 12 USD and the Jog Wheel itself.

What tact switch would I need if that were the issue, and would I need to do the entire jog wheel section including all 4 cursor directions tact switches.

you could use a usb keyboard and skip the repair if you like

search this forum for "tactile" or "tact" and you'll turn up the part number. the repair is a breeze and i recommend replacing as many as you can stand to...it's really boring but since you're already in there. mouser.com and onlinecomponents.com are both great sources for all the parts you'll need.

Is there anywhere to buy transport / number / menu / F1-F6 buttons besides MPCStuff.com
It would be great if there is an option like mouser.com for these buttons as well.

the actual plastic buttons? those are akai parts...not otherwise commercially available as far as i know.

you can also order the buttons directly from akai for cheaper than those third party places too. it might take a few emails and the service manual to get you to the right department though.
