USB 1.0?

This is something that I have been wondering the past year or so. With USB 3.0 now being used, will USB 1.0 ever become unreadable to computers and flash drives? I am not too informed when it comes to this, and was wondering if any of you guys knew the answer. I love importing categorized drum libraries that I edit on my computer directly to my harddrive....would hate to lose that ability. Peace!

I would expect future generations of USB to be backwards compatible, but the potential data transfer speeds will be limited by the USB spec of the hardware. A 2011 article on the subject from the archives of Sound on Sound magazine. MPC4000= USB v1.1.

You sound confused. USB is an interface standard, not a file format.
If you connect a USB 1.0 device to a USB 2 or USB 3 port, it will work fine (although still at its slow USB 1 speed) - it's designed to be backwards compatible.

Your "drum libraries" are not in USB 1 format, you just may have them stored on a USB 1 device.

I understand that is not a file format, but I was confused as to backwards compatibility. You both have cleared it up for me, though. Thanks!
