mpc 4000 screen problem, merlins wisdom needed

il keep it short fellow choppers.

have 4000, use it for everything love it

had car accident recently , **** my eyes up, now cant handle gleam from the blue screen for more than 30 mins ,

really dont wanna give up my mp, is there any way i can switch off blue screen, to how it was when its new - flicking contrast makes no difference need to switch off blue screen-

know its gonna be harder to see but its that or sell it

id rather give a kidney then sell that mother

find a tech in your area and have them put in a bypass switch for the backlight inverter. you can see characters on the screen, it's just darker.
i had someone do that to my casio rz-1 which may be a simpler machine to deal with. just a thought.

Cant you cut out a thin piece of tinted or colored plastic/ film to lay on top of the screen area? I mean its pretty much a square shape bar the contrast knob. Should be able to reduce the glare that way and its a cheap DIY job. Failing that, go cop some Ray-Bans...

have you tried sunglasses? not kidding. my accountant wears some really funky shades...they look dimpled...when he's using his computer. he looks extremely dorky but perhaps he has the same issue as you.

i can do dork! seems alot easier . i swear when i first bought the mp it didnt have blue screen, it was like the new 2000's , sorta of plain screen no colour , on maschine you can do that (or he who shall not be named)- would have thought it would be pretty straightforward

Quick and dirty version of the backlight defeat switch - disconnect the power to the inverter circuit, should just be a 2 wire connector somewhere.

damn, that sucks man, if i were you i would get some light car tint and try and see how that would stick on there. maybe 30% or 20% tint. the lower numbers, the darker it is.

I'd do it for you cheaper but I'm in the U.S.

got to be a bit careful with car tint film though, as it is in general not made for thin glasses or plastics, and when it has been applied/glued and is stuck as it should, then it may create tensions on the screen causing it to crack when the film stretches/shrinks from heating/cooling, standing in sunshine etc.. it might not happen, and not all films would react like that depending on the material and what it is made of and so on, but wouldn't want to take the risk unless i were absolutely sure about the film that is used.. i know people that has ruined both eyeglasses and regular windows by applying car tint film with left over material after they had their cars done.. also, in my previous job i have had to stop people from putting car tint film on their helmet visors.. i can just imagine the accidents that may happen if they put it on their visors, and then if it suddenly cracks when they're out driving

there are lots other types of films that should be better suited than car tint film, but I'd just use sunglasses i think, seems like the quickest and easiest way to solve this problem.. just wear 'em on and you're done!
