Jog Wheel - 'back' sensitivity

Quick question:

if I spin the jog clockwise, each 'click' = 1 parameter change (as expected)
if I lightly touch the jog clockwise, nothing changes (as expected...)

However:

If I lightly touch the jog anticlockwise, I do get 1 param change (but no click).

I seems hyper sensitive, but only anti-clockwise. Hence after a clockwise change, if I accidentally lightly touch the jog, it changes the parameter back.

By design, or faulty jog?

Must be by design, I get that too.

I'm sure it's a problem that comes with use and age. I haven't had the issue myself (yet), but I've got the newer blue model and it hasn't got many signs of wear and tear.

I always preferred using a USB keyboard for navigation, as much as possible.
Once I became accustomed to the keyboard. I found my workflow expedited.


Of course you want you jog wheel fully functioning.
I found that all the clicks eventually become dull. With the clicks closest to the zero point going dull first.
I have owned or operated 10 different MPC 4000.

The jogwheel just tends to go like this after a few years.

It may be possible to clean the contacts but I've no idea if it's possible to disassemble it to do this.

Failing that, you just need to get it replaced.

It is a nuisance.

I had a white 4k that had this issue. I sold it on ebay and the buyer had the jog wheel replaced by mpcstuff.com

I used a pc keyboard with the 4k to extend the life of the buttons and jog wheel. You actually get faster with it over time.

I had a white 4k and it had the same issue, now on the blue 4k and no issue... it was workable but I'm glad its out of the way...

I've accidentally deleted all kinds of things because of the jog wheel changing the parameter one tick with no sound.

same prob here, anybody try to open and clean contacts with some positive effects on the problem?

My 4000 is beaten and worn down, but doesn't have this issue. The jog wheel is looser than it used to be, but it is still one click, one change.
