I've come to the conclusion my music can only be as good as the sounds I have available, therefor I have went outta my way to grab an abundance of samples, cds, vinyl, etc etc

My question is how is your MPC organized if it even is

I snatched my hd outta my pc and plugged it up to my pc and im slowly putting it all togethor

Do you guys that have alot of sample cds, just drop the name of where the sample cd came from and just toss it all into one drum folder or do you section off your drums( Im prob goin to have one drum folder with another folder seperating the kits into where they came from)

and for shit like my Piano folder I'm just going to keep the names of where it came from just have it seperated from the rest of the sample cd

I dunno just some ideas that where going across my head, anyone came up with a supreme scheme for keeping their sounds easy to find yet organized 2 the T ? any comments would be appreciated as well, this has turned into a long project :( but it will pay off when Im poundin beats out

I have two IDE HD's, each 40GB. The master is my Song-drive (wich contains all the maps with the songs and programs and samples from that track. I have divided this HD into different folders: hiphop, house, triphop, experimental, dnb, etc..
The second HD contains all my samples and programs. Drive is organized into different maps: drums (-> hats, kicks, snares, etc), instruments (-> sax, guitar, keys, etc), loops (-> drums, bass, etc), bass, synths, pads, etc, etc... Also a folder named: samples and another one named: programs. Wich I use to save me own made samples and programs to

Then I have an external HD and a MegaSteno via USB, wich I use to exchange samples with some fella groovers in town.
Each month I save the song-disk to DVD
And thats the story about me and my MPC.

I copied all my sample CDs to the hard drive. Each CD is in a separate folder. When I work on new stuff I save it in a folder named after the date. Ususally each date is a different song.

ya I pretty much finally finished my preliminary organization

I just ditched the sample cd names or the originance totally (unless Im doing samplin off a cd or record)

and just put them inside their corresponding folders, piano, guitar, drum, etc etc

I got a seperate project folder labeled, hot, warm, cold, then inside each is finished and needs work

Hopefully I'll get some time later tonight or tommorrow to sit down and start putting all my hardwork 2 use
