basic question

i just copped a midi controller, ive done everything and set everything up nice. i can span the keys yadda yada.
but what i want to know is i have a program with keyspan and recorded some notes in and i want to switch to another program while maintaining those recorded keys how can i do so?

i know the solution is multis. iver never really used the multi section before so im confused

i use multi on my s2000 and it should be somewhat the same way, u gotta set up what program is for what midi channel in the multimode then trrack then goto the next channel. so like i got drums on channel 1a bass on 2a keys on 3a. it should be somewhat the same i would think.

On the MPC4000, a MULTI can have up to 128 Parts.
To be able to play multiple programs in the same sequence, they must be assigned to different Parts of the same Multi.
Then, in MAIN, set the Track output to Part and select the part number for the program that you want to use on that track. You don't need to set MIDI Channels.

You can either
* build the MULTI in advance (in MULTI, assign the Programs to the Multi Parts before creating the sequence, and then simply select the Part number for the track)
or
* create a blank MULTI with as many parts as you want (or add blank parts to a MULTI that contains only your first Program), and then in MAIN, select the Part number for the track and move the cursor right to the Proram name (blank is no Program is assigned) and use the wheel (or press WINDOW) to assign any Program that is already in the memory.

If the MULTI does not have available blank Parts (for instance, if the MULTI hass only 1 Part), you cannot assign more Programs.
Go to MULTI, select either the MIX or MIDI sub-page, place the cursor on the Part number and press WINDOW, Ther eyou can add blank Parts to the existing Multi.

With a 128 Parts MULTI, you can have a different Program on each of the 128 tracks.
You can also assign the same Program to multiple Parts. This way, you can modulate (pitchbend, modwheel, ...) that Program on one track without affecting the other tracks unsing the same Program.
