For a good year I have been on and off trying to load up programs and songs to my 4000 that I produced on my late 3000. The files are on zip disks but I can never get the MPC to recognize that there is a Zip Drive attached (through SCSI).
I have the correct cable for the SCSI type the 4000 goes to - bought it brand new so I don't think that's an issue. I've tried with two different Iomega drives. They won't even be recognized although I've noticed if the drive IS connected when searching that it'll hang on the searching screen and the only way out is powering off. I've lost good work that way, accidentally searching when the drive was connected.
I know there's ways around this - I could just buy a USB Zip Drive and transfer the files and to my computer or straight to the MPC's HD but I'd rather figure out why I can't just get a regular drive to work and not by a USB drive for that one task.
Just one other thing. I have tried numerous power supplies and non have worked. The one I have at the moment 5v is the one prescribed but while the light comes on I can't eject disks I've put in or, as I've said, get the the MP to recognize it.
Any help would be welcome.
