Does everyone in here make hip-hop?

Does everyone in here make hip-hop? or do some people make club.
How versitile is the machine ?

I know its tight as a MF around 100 bpm's but what about at 130-140??

Anyone with any comments on the versitility or want to share what kind of music they make.

I myself want to make hip-hop and club/house and would like to know if it is well suited before I buy. ( either the 4000 or the RS7000 )

machine is great for all styles and tempos
My entire last album Last True Family Man was made with MPCs
you cannot go wrong if your willing to properly learn the MPCs
but they can be tough to learn

i use it for synthiepop-like stuff. though i have to say that i am nowhere as professional as some users on this forum and have no record out yet, after years in front of a computer screen i finally regained my lust for making music through this machine. so yes, i derserve it. it made me use my ears again and it did`nt crash on me so far. not ONCE. this machine is dedicated for making MUSIC, not only hiphop. word, as you might say.

Ego can you break down your process for D&B on a MPC. I am starting to build some jungle tracks in Reason with a another dj but I really use my 4k for hip hip. Reason makes quick work of all the fills and switches used in D&B tracks. Anyways maybe you can give a little insight to your methods on the 4k.

I´m doing house, techhouse and techno and for that type of music it´s the ultimate machine, in one way the house music is the mpc, everyone who listen to house knows that swing that the music has and guess what it come from the mpc 60, 3000, 2000, 4000, or the sp1200. All the big star in the techno scene like, adam beyer, samuel l session, marco carola, gaetano parisio, and so on use it and why? because of the swing and the tight sequenser and the fact that you use your fingers and head not your eyes and the mouse, this is a instrument not a tool!

I don't have mine yet, but my music will be 'warpish' (the record label). I like Goa, Breaks, and allot of odd music.....My current setup isn't making this possible. I need $3000.00

what.. Adam beyer uses an mpc! wich one does he have?,uuuuhh I just love his dark pulsating sound!

I make house, however on the 2000XL. You need a seperate unit for effects, or you could just use sound forge to edit your samples.

Stewart Walker, also a techno guy, uses an MPC 2k in his live set. He even manages to make the more minimal, complicated style techno and some IDM style stuff.

The way he uses it is dope. He connects all 8 outs to a DJ mixer with 4 channels, each channel gets 2 outs. That way he can 'mix' between songs and do some really amazing blending and cut outs.

I just bought a 4k specifically to get away from the damn computer, and I plan on making everything from ambient to techno with it. I'm sorry but a mouse is just not the correct interface for music.
