If you know sh1t about gear, you know that you dont even need to use the A/D D/A converters on the 4000. I have had a 4000 for 6 months and I dont even know what the converters sound like, because I have a digital mixer (DM24) and I use the ADAT optical outputs, and I drop .wav files that I cut on Pro Tools dirrectly into the 4000 via AkSys. If you are going to spend that much $$$ on a 4000, you should already be thinkin about gettin a 24bit/95k digital mixer, or DAW, or both. If not, you should just keep using your 2000 with a Mackie or Berhinger analog mixer and stay in the dark. Its all about 24bit/96k, and digital interfacing.

Its clean.. what people forget is that if you sample dirty loops then your sound will be dirty. Period...

If i plug the 8 outputs in a Mackie 2408 Mk III and record in Cubase do you think it's a good start? Or should i pass in a Tube Preamp first before the Motu, to give that vintage fatness?

I agree with FreddyFresh, the quality of the convertors on the 4k are excellent. Whatever goes in sounds just like the record it came off of. If want to compress your kicks for extra punch after the fact you can do that easily. Talk about fatness, that is the shit, you can audition compression on snares and kicks till they knock like crazy. Try that on another MPC. Sorry! Need to add a LFO to a drum, go ahead. Notch filters, be my guest. I just pulled bells off a grimey old classical record, guess what, grimey a** bells. You want dirty, clean, whatever, you got it. The sound is accurate and I believe that is what counts.

I think a Motu 2408mk3 is a great interface... Unless you have to use Pro Tools.... P.T. wont work with the 2408mk3, but Cubase, Logic, DP etc. will. Check out the Tascam DM24 digital mixer. These 2 units are perfect together. 24 ins and outs @ 24b/96k using TDIF. As long as you are staying in the digital realm, the sound wont change at all. Even without a DM24, you can hook up the ADAT lightpipe dirrectly from the 4000 to the Motu 2408mk3. Although the ADAT interface on the 4000 and the DM24 are not 96k compatible, the Motu unit may be, and this will change -on the DM24 & 4000 as things evolve in the next year or so....I hope!
I think its a great combo even at 24bit/48k...

The reason i was so angry is that i saved my cash for 10 months now and im ready to buy the 4000 but when i read negative feedbacks on forums and rumors on the web i get lost and confused and then im not shure where to invest that money.....but i think i will charge directly at th 4000 once and for all!
