need help. no sounds on main outs or headphone

I recently sold my mpc4000.
The buyer claimed no sound coming out of machine.
Buyer sent the mpc4000 back to me.
I opened the mpc up, reseated all the cables. still no sound from the headphones or the main outs.


Now i figure that the problem could be the AD/da board, or the main main board.

Does anyone have an idea on how to further trouble shoot this problem?

it seem also that midi I/O is not working.

sorry, i got nothing in terms of additional diagnostic. possibly damaged in transit? at least that might cover your repair costs. seems odd that you shipped a fully functional unit and upon arrival it's basically kaput.

I may part it out, or keep it as a parts machine

I have had this problem at least twice. Reseating the main AD/DA board fixed it once. The other time I sent it out to Forat. He can get it working again. According to him, the boards and the machine itself must be put together in a specific order. He went on to say that the machine itself is very sensitive and the road is not where it does well.

do you mean just the cables, or actually removing the boards, and re-installing

No I mean the boards. I cleaned the machine as I went too. You have to fake your time, and its best to have a static electricity ground wrist wrap on too.

removing boards wont do anything but give you a better look at the back side.

reseating everything will help, including ram.

i did the cables to no avail.
i will try the ram and see what happens
