I'm interested in possibly picking up one of those MOTU interfaces with 24 i/o's Hows the sound quality on those joints? Do you use one? I need a piece that can do at least 8 tracks in but 16-24 would be perfect and I need it compatible with Logic, Dp3, and Live.

You use a laptop right? The 2408mk3 uses a pci card so I dont think you can use it. It seems like a perfect audio interface to use with certain digital mixers on a non PT system. But you should check out the Motu 828 or 896 which are both firewire interfaces. They all support use with Logic, DP, Cuebase. I cant really speak on the 'sound' of the analog input A/D converters, but my guess is that they certainly are not the worlds best. But, both units support spdif and Adat i/o's. With my 001, I use the analog inputs as little as posible. Instead I connect analog gear to my dig mixer which has better converters, and then pipe it into the interface. Motu is definately the way to go if an HD system is out of your reach.

I use the Hammerfall DSP Digiface unit. It is perfect because I have a mobile setup capable of 24 tracks and a desktop setup which is similar. If you are on mac I would say MOTU is the way to go, but if you are on PC I would highly recommend the hammerfall dsp + multiface or digiface.
