Akai's website is back up now (it was down over the weekend).

Grab akSys from the downloads tab on MPC4000 support.

You'll need the USB driver and ak.sys V2.53 if on Windows or ak.sys V2.61 if on MacOS X.

Whatt? Not working in either? Bummer. Is there anything that one can do with aksys that one cannot do straight from the 4K? Hope not.. I will not downgrade, not anymore..

You can do everything on the 4000 that you can do through ak.sys.
I hardly use it. I don't find it necessary after breaking my neck to get it running. Some things are easier like drawing out envelopes and you can layer sounds fast.
If you have more than one compatible machine (example Z8 and a 4000) then you can work faster by having both on the same screen.
Peace

You can transfer files larger than 512MB direct to the hard drive, which you can't do from the machine without loading sounds into RAM first. There's also quite a few presets for envelopes which aren't in the 4K itself.

A lot of the other stuff just comes down to workflow and what you prefer. If you're into building Keygroups with a lot of samples it starts to become essential. It's a huge time saver for that sort of programming.

Is there a usb driver installation for apple puters?

You cant access the pad editor or a sample editor thru aksys on 10.6.8.

Unless, I was supposed to install a usb driver. :hmmm:

I like making sounds using both. Can you access the filter, amp, decay presets in the hardware?

Even with 10.6.8, at least the program edit is accessible.
