Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I have a problem recording analog in on my mpc 4000
Recorded a drum break chopped it played with for a while. After that tried to record another sample and recording didn't work anymore.
Already tried al the logical stuf like switching from the balanced in to the rca in. Switched between phone and line input device. Nothing works
Recording main out and from cd drive works fine.
Only recording analog in keeps displaying the message "waiting for input signal" when in the record window.
When i do record i only get noise on the playback.
I already did re initialize and restart several times. This doesn't work.

Is this a software or hardware related issue?

Could somebody please help me out on this one?
It's seriously starting to freak me out.

Haha, thanks for the offer, but i think i'll bring it to a friend of mine who's got more experience opening them. Well mainly 2000's, but he should be able to able to open and check mine i guess.

Yup, kinda sounding like something's wrong with the AD section of your 4k, as bypassing the AD lets you sample (since resampling and cdripping works). Going through the contact points on the AD board might fix your problem. This is not a prob I'm experienced in, but I'd say that since you can sample "noise" on the way in, it is likely that the AD section is still intact (ie. no shortcircuit etc type of damage that would require a new AD board)

But it might also be possible that somehow the AD converter board has fried? Hope not..

Thank you Tsutek for this exact information.
This might really help me out.
I'm going to see if my friend can open my mpc up this week, and check if this the question.
Hope it's the contact points and it's not fried.
I'm going to let you know when i know more.
