MPC 4000 to CR-78 PGM

I'm having trouble syncing the two. I am running the midi clock signal from the MPC to midi 'A' and connecting the MPC midi out 'A' to the CR-78 PGM in. The CR-78 plays ahead of the MPC so I move the sequence to compensate. I have to start my sequence at location 1.01.039 instead of 1.01.00. This is a great improvement but it still isn't rock solid and it's a pain having to adjust each sequence. Can anyone shed some light?

well maybe you could sample the bit from the cr-78 into the mpc.. chop the air from the front and play it at the right time in the box?
