how do I set the decay amount?

Hi everybody!
This is my first post, I've owned every version of the mpc and let me say, I absolutely love the 4000!! I think this question may have already been dealt with but I can't find it. My question is how do I set the the decay on the end of a sample, to take a click out of a kick for instance. I used to use this feature all the time on the 2000xl. I see in the porgram section, edit 1, there is an amplitude decay setting that looks like the same thing but it doesn't seem to have any effect. The attack seems to work the same way so it's confusing to me. Any help would be VERY appreciated. Thanks Guys!

Use the Q-Link functions : press SETUP->SEND->then set Transmit to Pad Control and Assign to Decay. Active the Q-link knob and that's it.

I had the same problem. To get the decay to work (for short samples like drums you have to lower the sustain value all the way down. Now you can get the same decay affect as on the MPC2000xl. I think when
they made the 4000's envelopes they tried to make them more like the
envelopes on a synth because this MPC is not just for drum samples
anymore, although right now thats all I use it for.
