The I'm too LAZY thread...

I posted this thread b/c I too lazy to do things the 4000 is intented to do just because I'm stuck in my ways, the manual makes things difficult, and some expliantions just dont seem to help...

1. I dont set loop points... I sample truncate (when extended samples are used)... hit poly 1 & set mute groups... I press one shoot... and loop adjusting BPM's

2. I dont do the Region Slice thing... cus I dont refreak breaks... and use the same kits in a the same song... I really wish I could do this with sampled phrazes (got lazy with the motif too... like it was the ASR)... but something always goes wrong... and I got ADHD...

3. I dont use the internal effects... because engineers hate it when you bring wet mixes to a studio for tracking...

4. When I save entire memory to a folder... I dont rename the All seq whatevers... cuz I've already named them after i created the seq....

5. No matter how many sample packs and sample cds I by... the kicks and snares usually suck ass... therefore I revert to lifting them off records/cds... etc etc etc...

6. I dont work with emcee and singers just because they have dreams... I only deal with artist that inspire me...

7. I wish I really understood the Q-Link function or sliders... cus that would be the shit... but once again I'm too lazy...

8. I still dont understand Keygroups like that... but I made some really hot shit in the past using them... lightening hasn't striked twice

9. The filters aren't as fun to use as with the 2000... so i use external shit to do the job... this machine can honestly be to pristene... (I've never used zones either)

10. Even when I sample long audio... I still chop that shit up... because I feel that someone else has found the same loop... and I am no different adding a chord to differentiat the verse from the hook or brigde.

Basically... I posted this thread... because I wanted to let everyone know I'm LAZY too... but still make a living at this shit... it's the man not the machine that makes things incredible... and I want the machine to make me a better man...

Please add on... if I can make life easier for you I will... if you can make me less Lazy... and more interested please do... sometimes technology really takes away/staginates from creativity...

Final reason I posted this thread is because I was talkin to Chad from the Neptunes and he stated he copped the 4000 and returned it because it didn't help his creative process... it was too different than what he was usta doing.... I had this same convo with Kanye (he's a 2k cat... if it aint broke dont fix it)... and Just Blaze told me he likes the 4k... but his 1k sucks and it's collecting dust... now he exports his files and uses other studio eqp to load his files...

Your mind is like a parachute, it only works if it opens up. I was intimidated at first, but with a little patience and learning. i now feel i would never go back. The 4000 in my opinion is the greatest beat machine ever. I have used almost all of them.

Botom line. Use whate ever suites your needs

That's the hardest part though.....coming out of your zone to learn something new to improve things. Kinda like Tiger Woods when he feel off while he was working on improving his swing. Once he finally got it down (and it must have been very tempting to revert back to what he knew was successful short term), he was lethal again.

I got my 4k like 2 weeks ago....it's like my pet project right now. If I need to get something done now, I still do it the way I been doin' it. But I really do want to learn it.
