just got a ZIP 250 for my PC, was wondering if it can plug & play with the 4K or if i need to format it for either AKAI or PC.

don't wanna screw any data up, if anyone's using a ZIP between machine and computer could you lend a hand or shed some light?

thanks a lot

I haven't used my Zip 250 with my comp yet but it works fine with the 4k. I just connected it and it was working. No formatting or anything. I have done the switch between comp and 4k with a floppy drive and found no problems. Hope that kinda helps.

No you do not have to format a Zip drive, it is a plug and play device. Only Hard Drives need to be formatted

thanks guys! it's a usb powered and came with software for the PC, i guess that having it work on the PC is more resident on the PC side : i feel comfortable enough with trying it out with the MPC.

thanks for looking out!

The ZIP drive itself does not have to be formatted, but the ZIP disks most def get formatted. Luckily AKAI is using FAT32 format which is completely compatible with PCs.
