Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I saw this message posted on an MV 8000 forum.

About the MPC and it's 'timing hype', the best is that you disregard such comments as these are old fashioned and uterly over hyped.
The thing is the old MPC60 had a very sloppy midi clock generator which would get very sloppy when the sequencer had lots of midi data to procces, naturaly this problem would give the songs a strange kinda swing feel, which eventually became seen as a feature instead of a problem... go figure

So is this guy saying that only the MPC 60 has "SWING" and none of it's children do? And
that basiclly the "Swing" function is useless (which I know it's not, as I can see the changes
that I do to my sequence on my nice MPC 4000 LCD)? I don' t quite get what's he's
indicating with this. And that the MPC 60 only has "SWING" when it's got a lot
of midi data?

I've had played with sequencers that don't have "good timing" and the last thing that it
does it make a good "swing". A better description would be a drunken stagger. Try
any Linux based sequencer program without the Timing Kernel patch applied and you'll
see what I mean.

I guess the best way to see what this person is saying, is to hook up a 909 against
the MPC 4000. Make sure that 909 isn't using any of it's Shuffle features, and then
give it a 4 x 4 beat. Do the same with a beat on the MCP 60 (no swing settings used).
Sync the 909 to the MPC 60 and listen to if the beats go out of phase. Let it go for an
hour and come back and check it out.

Wonder if anyone on the MCP 60 forum can verify this MV 8000 forum statement.

that forum has a few anti mpc'ers, many 4k statements on that forum are completely wack!.. why?the point?..but on the MW8000 topic well zo how about that 4min OS startup time then 8) ...and I heard if you fill in your mw owners form (clippable from the back of the mw box) they send you a mw8000 poster for free, how awsome is that !@@!!
