Duplicate Item found (202)

Wtf is this error

my items aren't "duplicates" they have different file names and sizes.
I cannot move past these "duplicate" items as the only way to get past the error is to press the CANCEL.

How do i get around this error? Wtf is a duplicate item? There is nothing about this in the reference manual. I am loading sounds from a FAT32 USB drive and it's only 16 gb so there should be no weird size issues.

I just got a FATAL ERROR DATA ABORT

Older systems would do weird tricks to truncate file names... Something like "my dope fancy super fly piano c3.wav" could turn into "mydope~1.wav" or whatever... and depending on how the system reads them, it can cause issues where it thinks you have duplicate file names, even when you technically do not.

Does this happen when loading a program, or a full project?

Looks like you might be hitting a 20 character file limit.

Do you have a Blue MPC 4000?
Is 1.71 OS Installed?

No, I have a white one with the OG drive from 2002. It says VERSION 1.30 in page next to Global information

Thanks, This might likely be it. I downloaded some free packs and converted em to 16 bit but they all got shit tons of Metadata and the file names are the producer tag _ 000 1 - SOUND NAME . Just really long titles for an older machine like that.

The titles I get, but could the extra metadata in windows cause something in The mpc to not work as well? I have no reason to believe this is the case but while Im troubleshooting might as well eliminate all possiblities

This happens loading a folder on my flash drive. I have multiple folders for samples so I just wanted to load the parent folder to get all the samples and save em on the internal hard drive so I can load other stuff on to my flash in the future.

FATAL ERROR only occured when loading a specific folder (not sure which one theres many) and I've yet to retry it with the same folder out of fear of **** the systems internals.

Try updated the OS TO 1.71

Ok, but what happens if I damage the mpc? I read reflashing could damage it in another forum post

Also, for upgrading to 1.71. If I need the USB driver as well as OS loader. What do I do as they both akMPC4kU.inf and .sys files. Which do I overwrite?

No you don't need that. Just the MPCV171.BIN file.

Damage If you do something wrong. But it's very easy to update. (Steps below)

1. Download the 1.71 OS
2. Unzip it and move the MPCV171.BIN to Desktop
3. Drag the MPCV171.BIN to USB KEY
4. Put USB KEY into front USB PORT
5. Turn on the MPC 4000
6. Press Load
7. Select USB KEY
8. Scroll to the MPCV171.BIN on the USB
9. Click DO IT
10. It will ask, "Do you want to install, Once upgrade start you can not stop it".
11. Click install
12. It will verify and erase flash memory and write the OS. (Do not stop it, Turn it off, or Remove USB KEY.)
13. Once it finishes (2 minutes.) You need to Click Restart
14. It will restart and you can start making music.
