installing op. sys 1.40

I recently downloaded the latest operating system for the 4k but i cannot find a way of installing it!
Ive tried using scsi and usb inputs but with no success.
Once again the frankly useless manual gives no info wotsoever on installing proceedures.
Ive been goin into the LOAD page but, after trying all options and opening all windows possible, Im finding that the mpc isnt recognising that there is any external input. If i press the UPDATE command the cute jap girl tells me to wait while shes searching for scsi options.... so i wait... and wait.... and wait..... while she taps her foot on into infinity!! and as theres no CANCEL option while im waiting i end up having to turn the mpc off to get it to finish (which i guess isnt a very good idea while its searching!)
Any help out there? cheers

There really is no big deal updating your MPC, but unfortunately the manual isn't really helpful...

What you need to do is get the newest OS and the OS-loader software from the Akai web-site, and just read the documentation contained in the OS zip-file:

I've done this quite a few times now, and it's all quite quick and painless. Just make sure you have the USB-drivers for your MPC installed on your PC/Mac (included with the OS loader file), connect your MPC to your PC/Mac with an USB cable, start the OS loader software, choose the correct *.bin file (the actual OS) and Bob's your uncle (or any other relative of preference). Oh yeah, the MPC needs to be turned on during this operation (the loader will tell you to restart the MPC when finished)...

CRACKED IT!! i think the fact that the scsi cable ive been using had 1 pin that was bent out of line might have sumthin 2 do with it! the 4k is now at least recognising that theres an external device trying to talk to it! thanx 4 the walkthru reply my friend!! Im on the case!
