Most modern flash drives are formatted to NTFS as they transfer faster and the architecture is newer.
If you want to use your Flash drive, you need to plug it into a computer and format it to FAT32 first.

For Windows, you can press the Windows Key ---> Type in "partition" and a disk management screen will pop up where your drive will be listed along with other drives on a neatly formatted table. Right click the disk (your USB drive letter) and click format and from there just change NTFS to FAT32.

Alternatively, you can use this tool http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index. ... format.htm . Either way, your MPC will not read an NTFS formatted drive
