every sequence?

Is it possible to assign different programs on the tracks and not have them identical on every sequence?

Let's say I have two programs set up for starters for a song. I assign my drums as Program #1 and bass as Program #2. On the main page I select and assign program change for each patch accordingly. I apply a delay effect for the bass program on the mixer page. On sequence 001, I use the drums on track 1 and bass on track 2. But on sequence 002, I switch the order -bass on track 1 and drums on 2. Keep in mind that I'm using program changes so this shouldn't be a problem (so I thought).

Then I proceed to the song page. I create a quick song in this fashion -1st step is sequence 1, 2nd step is 2, 3rd step is back to sequence 1. So far everything works as it should and the playback switches smoothly with the program changes. But as soon as I convert the song to sequence, the playback gets out of wack. By that I mean the programs will switch back and forth on the Part Mixer page therefore causing the drums to take on the effects that I had originally assigned to the bass program.

Is there a fix for this? Or am I doing something wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
