recording your mutes, ok....but what about solo's?

alright so i see i can record/automate my mute's, but can i also so this with the solo button?

yes, i understand how to do this. btw, this IS a forum! where one can ask questions. I've been producing on the MPC series for over 8 years and was makin loops, cuttin' tape from reel-to-reels before i could afford to buy one. it amazes me how indignant and self-rightous 'many' of the people are in here. its just a frickin' question....and i didn't ask if i could 'mute all the tracks but one' this i know. either help or don't. i'm not lazy nor a newbie, but i do have a new MPC4000 and am learning how to 'flex' it. i have no problem working with work arounds and such but 'if' it can do it than...bam. if you not going to help, why say anything. half the bullsh*t that happens in here would never happen on the street.

there are so many post made on this site that are just hatin'. when this site first started and i remember it's earlier incarnations, it was helpful and still can be today but people acting hard or indignant is rediculous.

if you have version 5 or higher the "mixer" window is automated...
try that and let me know ...the manual says that this is possible

well put my ass. Old School needs to learn this. The WORK AROUND. All that hard work and it got you nowhere but online asking dumb ass questions and talking rectless. If i was in front of you id say the samething dont be lazy. And your question really did get answered (NO) so do the work around. DONT MAKE THIS BIGGER THAN WHAT IT HAS TO BE>

You could have just said no. Don't be lamer than you have to be.

He must be fresh out some software/hardware agruement and is extremely upset at his wallet atm.....

while i don't feel the anger part i do understand the frustration with what would appear to be a question that didn't even need to be asked and then a reply that still didn't figure out the answer to the original....there is no automation for solo because they assume you're not so lazy as to need to program a solo in when you could just program in the track mutes.

Or they didn't think about it, so it wasn't included. If you need it, I would send an RFE to Akai , and use the workarounds until they implement it.

I would hope that they would implement that the Recording of Track Mutes would ALSO
record Solo's since they are both initiated from the same screen (Track Mute window).

Since one can go into the Track Mute window and "Jam" your song, including Mutes' and Solo', it would be nice if all of these actions were recorded.


That's at least my 2cents. Let us know if you DO send an RFE in, as if you don't , I am going to.

yeah i'm planning on passing this suggestion onto Akaipro. i have no problems with the work around but i think it'd be a useful feature. Or atleast i could benefit from its implementation.

i'm still a bit baffled on how wanting to know if the mpc4000 can record solo's has anything to do with my (beat making) work ethics. Probably sixty percent of the things i'm capable doing on my mpc4000 and software today, would have been mere fantasy's when i first started producing and i was pounding out beats then with no probs then and today. if there is something i need my track or samples to do, i'll find a way. the majority of the features in the mpc4k allows me to achieve almost any 'idea' with ease. not that i need to cover this again but, using mutes to achieve my desired results within the work flow is fine and desiring recordable solo's seems logical to me. i say this because of the way the recordable mute's is already implemented, they're just a step away from it. for me this would allow me to bounce through seq. and tracks, while recording and achieving some really 'real' time experimentation. of course i can achieve this through other means and those means aren't stringent. yadda, yadda, yaaa....

thanks to everyone for your suggestions and ideas. i'll send my suggestion to Akai. now my 'lazy' a$$ is off to work on a beat. in the spirit of this particular thread i'll call it: work around ...and while i'm at it i'll go head and add a new alter ego: b lazy
