set loop off, set number of bars to your will
start record + play, so the sequence/track will start from the beginning

now when the MPC moves/comes up at the track end (set in number of bars), it will overshoot/continue to record , so in fact lengthen the sequence

-this is contrary to current MPC (x/live) behavior, where when loop is off, sequence will effectively stop after the last bar

master or sequence makes no difference

maybe they forgot to use their time machine 20 years ago :hmmm:
imho it‘s a smart feature: you either work on a fixed number of bars section - or just play along and set your selection of bars later (or snip something together)
