What does the writing say on the CD-R that is installed from the factory? I bought an MPC4000 from an individual and want to make sure it is from the factory. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Renegadebliss. This says "Plexwriter". Does anyone know if some of the MPC4000 went out with Plexwriter written on the CD-R?

Have patience and someone who has knowledge of it might come along and answer up. I have played with a few 4k's and noticed all of them had Plextor (blue letters) drives and they've worked fine.

I just spoke with someone at VST and they told me the AKAI MPC4000 all ship with Plexwriters. So it came from the factory like that. I appreciate the responses.

The white MPC 4000 also shipped with TEAC CD R/RW drives.

Press LOAD and select the CD drive, press window, that will give you a pop up screen that will tell give the Name, Device, Vendor and version.

mine came blank ... plugged a black plextor cdrw later on (guess 52x, 24x (or 32x - dunno), 52x ... burn speed is slower as it should be ... not really a problem and i think thats a limitation of the 4k and doesn't have anythin to do with the cdr your usin ... for the rest myone worx like a charme ...

generally i think u can use lotsa cheaper cdrs too whcih work just the same ... but i can't tell you any which i know work for sure ... and i never heard bout a plextor causin problems ... so if ya wanna save money i d try somethin else if ya wanna go the save way i d go with a plextor ... hth

I bought my MPC 4000 brand new, it's a blue one and it came with the PlexWriter 52/24/52A already installed. It writes discs at 52x, rewrites them at 24x and reads them at 52x. I'm so glad that Akai made this upgrade in the CD-ROM drive. I use Maxell 52x24x52 CD-R's and they work fine. I haven't tried any rewritable CD's yet. You can find compatible CD's to use here, on the PlexWriter 52/24/52A's Recommended Media List. Hope this helps.
