How do you change multis with control changes? I want to play a song and at a predetermined part of the song I want to use a different multi with different instruments, effects, ect. how do I implement this?
Thanks in advance.

You read the manual and do what it says.

Or sell your MPC4000 and give it to someone else more competant.

To be honest, this isn't clearly written in the MPC manual

1. In "Multi" Page - give the Multi a Program number, but make sure it isn't a duplicate
of any others.

2. In a blank track, select for Int-A for your part (if that's what you setup Multi Program Change
to be made on)

3. In program change select "1" if that's the program number that you selected in step 1.

4. Now when you switch sequences, the sequence will send Program Change 1 on Int-A
which should change the Multi to 1 automatically.

Now do the same for your sequence 2 (which uses Multi 2 which is set for program change 2).

Now if you use "next sequence" or even "song" mode , when the sequence switches,
it will switch the Multi.

If you are using OS 1.7, then this switch will happen faster then before , and you won't hear
the audio glitches of the new sequence playing the Old Multi before the New Multi is switched.

Hope that gives you a rough draft of what you need to do, and the manual should be able
to help out for the more specifics.

Ask again if somethign doesn't work.

Hmmm... with out poorly written the Manual is, I do see a good 3rd party source taking this
on and earning some money :)

Especially if MPC Tutor's keeps their MPC 2000 XL focus.

Man I did read the manual and I even called akai and they said that it couldn't be done until I told the guy that the manual said that it's possible. And yo man, there is no reason to be disrespectful especially when you have the internet to hide behind. Be a man, and show the next man respect. peace.

Well if you were sitting here in FRONT of me,
I'd tell you the same thing! And then I'd get the manual out (it sits in a blue folder on top of my piano) and I'd look it up.

As for Akai saying it's not possibe?!?!? That's just UTTERLY SPASTICATED.

stop being an a$s. if you're not going to help or have nothing positive to contribute then why reply? ...and, of course 'he' should read his manual. that goes without saying (although, some need to be reminded of this more often then others), but don't bring that garbage in here. i'm not a forum attendent nor am i sticking up for anyone, but this kind bait belongs in a far less productive forum. this is a great site and resource for tips, pointers, links, assistance, questions....yadda, yadda, yadda.

have all the personality you want but leave that pseudo-i'm-hard forum trash-talk elsewhere. contribute, help, ask, inform, add...but come on, bro!

peace

OK Mr A$$tuel,
why should I try and help someone who can't be bothered to read the manual? If they're *that* lazy (on a product they must've spent several thousand dollars on?!) are *they* gonna be helping anyone *else* on this forum? I doubt it!

But anyways:
here is me being helpful -
the information the guy wanted is cunningly hidden in the "Multi" chapter of the MPC4000 Reference Manual v1.0 (English edition), on page 127.
It took me approximately 25 seconds to find this (considerably less time than it took me to type a rejoinder to ewe  )

If someone reads that, doesn't understand it, and then asks on the forum for further elucidation of the bit that didn't make sense to them, then sure, fair enough.....
