hey guys how do u layer the kick for fatter sounds

layer it then add some filters and mess with the attack and decay.

press, program, f2, hit the pad you have your kick assigned to then hit f6(zone) down the bottom you'll see four slots in which you can put more samples

most my samples are good

but i always need eq just about no matter what. Try layering it with the bassline. Like dont do your kicks until after you lay down your bass (or rework the kicks once youve put it down)

then make sure the kicks just hit the same time as the bass.

instead of doing your drums first....just lay down a klick track....snare and hihat.

a very very nifty trick.. say you have a break-sample and your imported kit /kicks sound imported and the *cough* gorgius reverb on the 4k is not blending it inn that well eather

extract a chop from the break (just kick or snare or whereever you get a clean hit and a trail of reverb, layer it with your kick and adjust the startpoint of that Zone untill it plays only the reverb and all of a sudden your kicks sitting much better with the break..

even record air of a record at 24/96 and add that to the layer (the24/96 resolution really captures the warmth of the vinyl) and gives your kick more air to push

I should get paid for this... but wat de fak .. if it helps you make better music..

perhaps I should have been more on key, never claimed the reverb trick was mine, but I can c it coming out that way, my bad..& haven’t been researching shadow on the net, I read this in an article in keyboard mag about 6years back, in fact

I posted this same trick in a thread called: making drums kick ass and yes I did/do give him full credit,

the vinyl part I discovered on my own though its the same as bouncing to tape to get an analogue saturation..

I also invented the filter sweep! Bang! no u missed, and yes thats an uzi in my pocket

I won't forget the smile face next time I make an ego tasting comment about getting paid for giving tips..
