emu Sample cd

emu cds. Like the ones with proteous sounds on them.

has anyone of you bought these to use with your mpc? I remember reading the mpc can read emu format......if not, i can always get a converter. Buti am mainly talking about the ones straight from EMU, not third pary sample cds.

are these good? or is it just a bunch of oneshots.

im looking for multisample synth sounds.

if so, do they turn out good, as in, does the mpc read the files right? or is there conversion problems?

I remember reading to in between the updates to the OS update 1.20 that the 4k can read emu CDs too. But it did alot say that the fidelity may not be the same as Akai`s at 96khz. I forget the link but someone may have it.

Yes the mpc can read these pretty well, and the sound quality is the same as the actual sound modules (some of the same exact sounds). I bought 8 of the from emu.

On the inside of the cd case it actually says that it contain the same presets as some of the sound modules, ex. hip hop nation says "contains all the raw instrument sources exactly as they sound in the planet phatt machine".

... a friend of mine i m often sessioning with just ordered an emu esi32 ... anyone in here has one of those? ...its not in the house yet - i ll check that out once its here anyways but meanwhile: can my 4k read his samples (no idea which format it uses)? ... and if someone knows the esi 32 quite good and wants to give me its opinion on it then let it go please ...

im not sure about what format his samples are in, but i played with one for a second. My friend has 2..............(i dont talk to him much though) but i liked the way they sounded.He had a flute going on one of them and it sounded real.....and it was a multisample (not a phrase)

The only thing is that if i remember correctly, it doesnt have a graphic waveform editing, which isnt bad........unless you are use to the mpc.
But he controlled from a yamaha q70? some cheap ass keyboard with a few decent sounds, and a wierd sequencer.........you could get some bangin shit with that combo.

I wouldnt pass one up if you can get it for cheap....it will add a differant sonic quality to your beats, which is good.

what are the earth tones made up of? what kind of sound is a earth tone? I have been wondering about them for a while.

thanx cyrus for sharing some light on the esi32 ... much appreciated lookin forward to check it out now - it should come any day from now ... its not gonna be mine but i ll surely have it here occasionally ...

yeah. What mpc do you use? ^^^^ Since owning my mpc4000 (after my 2xl)

I would recomend a second "full blown" sampler to add to a mpc60,2000,1000 combo....no matter what it is-to anybody, wheter its a s950, emu, or whatever. I am having so much fun, and the level of my production has already increased, just because i can multisample better, and i have more options.

If i didnt get the 4000, i would get another rack sampler to go with my 2xl.

I still would do drums, and phrases on the mpc, but the keymapping, and filters of a second sampler are the shit.

cyrus i use the 4k and a viurs, a roland synth, some outboard and thats all i want for now ... atm i havent thought of gettin another sampler but who knows ... since my mate gets its emu the next days for now i guess i ll check that one out and see what it does ...

I used some of the emu cd hiphop nation , formula 4000, the sounds are very good except the drum kets I had to make them one shot samples manualy and also I had problem with a air sound after the end of some of the deep bass sounds, I would sometimes go in and trim the sample to get the noise off the end of it, but other than that they are worth the money if you don't mind a little work to get some of them to work

I used to be a die hard emu fan so I've got a fair few available for "swaps" if anyone wants to swap some akai stuff.
