Hi guys

I'm angry and will get mad soon, and need you guys to give me a hand.
This is my problem:

I'm from Spain and six months ago i bought this precious thing called MPC4000plus.
Two months after buying it i had a problem with the HD: It suddenly went off, i mean, the format of the HD was gone.( i repeat, without me doing nothing).I gave a new format and keep on my thing.

One month ago i switch my unit on and my screen went yellow !!!!
what the f man!! what's wrong with my unit?

So I mailed akaipro in the US and i was told to refer to spanish distributor and tech support. So i did it.
I also asked them if i could get a new unit. i'm not sure if it is possible but i want to try: two problems in six months.....i don't trust this unit.

The thing is that after waiting one month, now they( spanish distributor and tech support ) tell me that my warranty is useless here in Spain because i bought it in a foreign country.is it really true?

I'm mailing US tech support, sales service (they're the only mails i got )and also the shop where i bought it.

I need your advice men: who i can talk to. i need someone to tell me what can i do.
It's too expensive to send the unit to US and maybe its cheaper to get it fixed here......but i also want to know if you think that akai will change the unit ( that will be the only reason to send the unit to US ).

Thanks all of you for your time. think that i've been more than one month with my MPC, i can not stand it anymore....

If you buy abroad from a shop and get a problem with the machine, you normally have to ship the unit back to that shop to apply for warranty, yes. The shop then will contact the local Akai importer in their own country to get the problem fixed and ship the unit back to you. You probably have to pay all shipping costs. Not very attractive.

Very rarely a manufacturer guarantees worldwide warranty. But Akai, like most other brands, doesn't work that way.

Regarding the problem with the HD. Maybe you simply have a bad drive? Or a bad or loose flatcable that connects the drive with the mainboard?

thanks rob for your reply.

i've recieved an email from the shop where i bought the unit and they refer me to the akai dealer in the US.

it seems i was wrong thinking that there was an international warranty for akai products. :?

about the HD i'm not sure of that Rob, i just gave a new format and it works normally but sometimes it stops and i need to switch the unit on again.( someone told me in this forum it can be some kind of problem with the registry file and that's why the HD format was gone)

Anyway, it seems that i need to ship it back to US, i hope the will change the unit...that way i will be more calm with the money i'm spending.
