There's insturctions in the PDF for OS Upgrade 1.20, I think.
Or are they still on the download page on Akai's site.

Whereever they are, DO WHAT THEY SAY,
cos otherwise you could corrupt your MPC4000's firmware and then it will have to go back to the shop.....

step 1: go here: http://www.akaipro.com/int/download/index.html
step 2: download your OS version of choice (1.70, 1.60, 1.51, or 1.45)
step 3: download your OS-LOADER program of choice (PC or MAC)
step 4: unzip that what needs unzipping
step 5: plug-in your USB cables in the right places, and make sure the right USB drivers are installed.
step 6: run the OS-LOADER utility... select the OS you want to upload... wait a bit... wait some more...
step 7: do what the program tells you to do...
step 8: restart your MPC if all went well...

that's about it... I believe... I take no responsibility if things go wrong (see Felines post...)

Tell me if I have this right.
- Download the operating system uploader to my pc first and unzip
-down load the OS 1.7 to my pc next.

- then plug in the usb into the back of my MPC4K not the front and to my pc.
- or burn OS on a disk and stick it into my MPC4K? when I do this hit load on the MPC4K I see the files. I hit do it and nothing happens.

What give folks?

- yes
- yes
- yes: does your pc 'see' the MPC? you 've got the latast USB driver installed? the run the OS loader program.
- don't know... if this doesn't work, try another way, like via USB...

Look,
for something like this,
DON'T ask other people,
instead you MUST read the AKAI DOCUMENTATION,
and do EXACTLY what it says,
otherwise you could render your MPC4000 INOPERABLE
and it will have to go back to a service centre
(which with the state of Akai at the moment, could take bloody months....)

If you find the documentation,
and want some clarification on what it means,
by all means ask us then!

I got the OS loaded and most of my complaints have been corrected just by upgrading the OS.
