making .AKP programs in no time :)))))

This is just the life saver i'v been looking for since i have the MPC4k.

Those who know kontakt, know how easy it is to make a program with it right ? just drag & drop your samples on the keyboard and you've got your program...

now save your program (nki) with samples and open CDxtract, select NKI in the file menu, find your folder with the NKI+samples, hit save : this opens a "convert to" window, choose s5k/s6k and hit convert button : you just made a folder with a AKP program+samples in exactly 20 seconds

and the best is that you can actually do the same with soundfont, GIGA, EXS24, REX AkaiS500/6000 programs etc...

yups. You can use Halion too. I think Halion 2 is even more easy. If your notes are named correctly (c2, F3, etc) and when u open them all at once in Halion, Halion automaticly places the C2 under C2, F3 under F3 etc..

Ok.. i'm a little confused here. It seems fairly easy to me to make an .AKP program
with Ak.Sys. I can drag and drop from the MPC's memory, from it's harddrive or from
my harddrive/desktop straight to the keys or drum pad that I want.

then it's done, I don't even have to upload it or convert. Its finished. Just have to Save it for future use.


Takes me about 20 seconds to do the same as you what you stated but with Ak.Sys....

so run this by me again, what's the advantage in using a 3rd party softy when akasys does the exact same thing?

it does it faster!!

Thanks for the info. I actually do make quite a bit of samples with the Chainer program
that I was talking about, it takes Mulit-Samples of a VSTi patch automatically and it
does name the items c1 for C1 and F2 for F2 and such. This would make things
even quicker for me, if it automatically layed out the samples for me.

I could go from VSTi patch to .akp program in about 20 seconds. I can spend the time
I save in manually making the program, in tweaking the various keygroups just right and setting up some Program Modulation that isn't even in the original patch.


Thanks for the Tip! I don't turn on my computer too much during music making, so don't
explore it's various tools as much as I could.... this one will help me spend even less
time on the computer and still get what I want out of it!!!



I guess my next question is which is better at the conversions,
CDxtract or Chicken Sys TRANSLATOR?

yeah Chainer is a good little program.

I think Extreme Sampleconverter is best. And Chickensys is the worst.

tho 20 seconds is a bit exaggerated to create a complete program from a vsti..
especially when u make split velocities and stuff

Aksys is NOT the ultimate tool for everyone guys, i have more that 140000 sample most of them are aiff and aksys won't accept drag & drop of aiff files for easy handling.The only way i could do it is from the MPC itself (drag&drop from memory) but then you would have to load samples in the memory and audition is still such a hassle in aksys that i jus forget it...
just an exemple : when you want to lay down 40 piano samples to make a program how to you set the root note for every sample in aksys ? i just couldn't that or didn't find it...

it's ergonomy is far from friendly when it comes to making programs, but it's just my opinion i don't force you to use my method, again it was just informative no need to "puff err"

That's cool Glide yes i know the less software the better, it's just that i struggle a bit in aksys and with the mpc itself even more when i want to laydown a rhodes or a piano, with this method i was able to accomplish the same task so so so much quickier, that's insane...
i think it's worth trying it at least, if you already have the software.

If you use reason you can load your samples in the nn-xt, then tell it to set root notes automatically, and make zones automatically! This make s making sounds a reeze.. Then use translator (its he only app that can use .sxt) to transfer the sounds to s5000.

I don't remember which programs on the Mac support this, but you could find a program
(versiontracker.com???) that will batch convert these from aiff to wav, so that you don't have to do it manually. Leave the batch running over night and all 140,000 samples are converted (depending on your processor speed)

Unfortunately your mistaken. The current version can convert to nn-xt fromat, but not from it. Yuck!
