make the change from the 2000xl to the 4000
Tech aspects, features, etc, I jus wana hear it from the experienced users, am thinkin bout makig the change, been playing around with 4ks and reading the manual

anyway, i'm leaving out a lot reasons why the 4k trumps the 2k/2kxl. i like the 2k series but the 4k is killin it. i've been workin everyday on it since i've gotten it and i love it. i find the learning curve to be pretty easy. there's still a few things i haven't messed with but that's because i don't 'need' them.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, there's only two setups i'd consider in the mpc line: mpc4000 or mpc60 w/ rackmount sampler (s5000, s6000, Z4, ZCool.

2 rack samplers.

I never looked back.

here is a list of gear I replaced with my mpc4000.
proteus 1000
korg tr rack
roland xv5080
akai s3000xl(2 of them).

I used to have troubles trying to save a beat. Nothing would ever load up again properly.

Now I have to over 20 gigs of multisamples on my hard drive. I just have to save on one machine. Truely wonderful.

All you really need besides an mpc4000 is some way to multitrack, and a microphone.



There is so much memory in mpc4000, sometimes, I record raps into my sample editong software while the beat is playing. I then chop up the raps, and load them into the mpc. MAd FUN!

How come you got rid of your synth modules though ? You storing the sounds in the h/d and using the synth feature?

I have enough sample collection to cover all the sounds made by the modules. Sample collections are better.
