Mic input....

Somebody jus handed me a M-audio mic and I hook it up to my mpc 4000 and switch the Input setting from phono to line/Mic, But when I go to the record Screen I get no responce .. My question is do I need to change some setting in the mpc that I might of overlooked or do I need something extra, or is something jus wrong with my line/mic input.. I've read the manual it didn't really say much about that, I'm going to get an audio interface for tha pc but I just wanted to play around with the mic alittle bit before I went and cop it...

Mics need more gain, so you want to press down that GAIN button to the left of the REC GAIN pot.

Also, maybe you mic needs a battery? Maybe it has an on/off switch?

In the output section on top in the [Record] screen, make sure you have the analog selected instead of main out.

Oh and check the back to make sure you move the switch between the turntable and mic inputs moved it over to the mic side.

i think you'll need a mic pre amp. mpc doesnt have this

Goodlookin peoples, I must need a pre amp because the Mic doesn't have a on or off switch and it works fine when I plug it into my mixer.. So I'm gonna jus wait and cop the audio interface so I can record and mix/master the vocals thru my PC

If it's a condenser mic you will need phantom power (48 volts), if it's a dynamic mic then it should work just fine.

that's the problem... you need a phantom power to get the power to the mic
