Reading mpc1000 data with the mpc4000?

My music partner is making the move from a yammie box to the mpc1000, while I'm using the 4k. I understand some of you guys here are in a similar situation, so here's the big question:

Will I be able to read the mpc1000 data?

If I'm not mistaken, I can already read the sequence (midi) data, and the .wavs are also not a problem of course. What worries me is the mpc1000 programs. Is there some kind of software available that can convert a 1k program to something I can read with the 4k?

Btw, can the 1k really read my 4k drum programs? (If I keep them simple?)

what kind of program is it ?and how would you load it?

I had sent an email to Akai a while ago (about a year ago) about this same topic. I was thinking of maybe grabbing a MPC 1000 to take live and leave my 4000 in the Studio. What Akai indicated then, (before the Numark take over) was that the 1000 will read the MPC 4000 drum programs but not the keygroup programs. It can also read the midi and sample files as well. So they suggested converting a keygroup to a drum program and it should work on the MPC 1000. I never bought one, so I never tried it.

They also indicated that in a future OS, they were planning on implementing the 4000 the ability to read 1000 Programs, but so far they have not done so.

I also thought of getting an mpc1000 for live use. So it seems that moving simple drum programs, midi data and (16/44) wavs from the 4k to the 1k should work. My music partner will appreciate that.

But not the other way around. Ugh...
I think it's in the interest of Numark to get the 1k supported on our beasts, since it is very reasonable to think that an mpc1000 user might want to upgrade to the 4000, while his mpc1000 songs can still be used.

Indeed, and in this way, Rob, i don´t need to create programs...you simply export them as 1k pgm files for me...

Anyway, the way it looks now is that you don't have to create a program when you're given an mpc4000 *drum* program. The mpc1000 seems to read those already. Of course I'd have to go easy on the LFO, filter and modulation matrix stuff.
