Upgrading the OS

hello everyone. I just purchased an MPC4000 yesterday and the first thing I tried to do was upgrade the OS from 1.60 to the latest 1.7 OS. I tried to do it by connecting my mpc to the computer. i downloaded the usb driver from the akai site but for some reason they were unclickable. Im running a Mac OSX 10.3.9. can I upgrade the OS via cd-rom or is it better via USB connecting to the computer? And which programs from the Akai site should I download so that I can use my mpc with my computer?

thanks for that info Alt. I tried doing what that says on there but for some reason when I download the usb driver they are still unclickable. Is there a specific one I need to download or is there something else I need to have so I can open it?

yo - sorry mate that link was more for xp - should ve read your post more carefully ... and then i dont use a mac ... so dunno how its done there ... make sure you download the correct mac files is all i can say now - maybe some mac user steps in and tells ya more - meanwhile use the search function ... it s been covered for sure ... good luck

save the os on a cd then load it in your mp,just press the load button then hit DO IT!

Yeah I have a Mac too. I just went to http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.html#MFC1000
(copy and paste into your browser)
then double click OS VERSION 1.71

that should unzip the file then save the .bin file to a disc and do what rookie said ^
