sometimes the older ones come up on ebay, theyre white or silver, kinda light in colour...

the newer ones are blue.

is that the only difference.

if i snaged one of them and get the most recent OS is it identical???

cheers

well the real new ones are the 4000 plus which i believe have a few different features than the older one, not too much of a difference but still.

THE 4000plus comes with the SPDIF digital i/o board (IB-4D) which anyone can go out a buy to affix to any 4000 old or new

all MPC 4000s are the same, only thing that changes is the paint job (white or blue) and the options (8 analog out board, ADAT board, hard drive, memomory size, CD RW burner, ...) that you can buy separated

so it s really a matter of what color or options you want the most

The old one (white) is more analogue sounding and has better punch.

Nah, just kidding! It's actually cause Akai likes blueberry pie and vanilla icecream.
